Sitges is a very attractive town full of expensive majestic houses built for “indianos“, wealthy men returning to Spain after making their money in Latin America. Many of these houses are now museums or hotels.
Sitges has attracted artists for a few hundred years and is now an avant-garde Catalan art centre and a chic resort still retaining it's traditional Spanish feel.
One of the jewels of Sitges is the Palau Maricel or Maricel Palace. It was built in 1910 by North American millionaire Charles Deering to house his art collections. Today it is one of the most emblematic venues in Sitges. The Palau Maricel’s main floor offers two exquisitely beautiful halls: the Gold Room and the Blue Room, each with its own unique decoration and a superbe terrace where we will have a glass of cava while enjoying the views over the Mediterranean.
After having visited the town and its small streets, you have the option to have lunch in one of the nice restaurants at the promenade. Seafood and rice are the specialties of these restaurants.
After lunch there will be free time for a nice walk on the beach.
Lunch fee not included.
